"...and she was like what about Breakfast at Tiffany's?"

The latest addition to my poster collection... love the classic, vintage quote.

"I try to be like Grace Kelly... but her looks were too sad"

Love this advert so much - especially the special appearances - the whole concept is beautiful, J'adore!

Bellissimo!

OK, I know I shouldn't say it, being British and all, but Milan Fashion Week has been my fave so far...!

The colours were bright & bold and the prints were beautiful.  Prada's 50's cars, Dolce & Gabanna's corguettes and Versace's shells oozed a stylish kinda fun.

Salvatore Ferragamo showed us the essence of Italian style with the block matching of rich colours and the vibrant printed dresses with gold tigers... they were effortlessly cool and chic.

While other designers & houses went for a more glamorous, classic touch with all their looks, Versus went sporty yet feminine.  With a basketball court as a runway, the models sported (excuse the pun) zips, hoods and stripes.  The pastel colours and soft materials contrased with the zips and feminised the whole idea of sport lux.  Christopher Kane explains to Vogue: “It all started with a basketball theme and then there are the milkshake colours, the zipper details and the sportswear fabrics... It’s a bit about the cheerleader and a flapper,”
Referee shirt as a dress?!

Moschino cheap & chic, as always, went for a fun option, with a fruit & veg stall theme... for the catwalk & the dresses! Raspberry dresses complete with seeds & apple maxi dresses put everyone in a fruit lovin' trance.  However, it wasn't all fruit; flowers, grass & water gave a new meaning to eco clothing, nature-ising the dresses up and introducing beautiful colours & prints that spell out summer with a capital S.

Versace I really loved.  I love the sea inspired prints, the bold yellows & blues, the calm yet glamours whites & golds, the instant flattering dresses and the to-die-for shoes & bags.

Money makes the world go round

So, all you students out there will know that today was a very lovely day in our bank accounts - student loan landed in it!
Naturally, I popped into town to have a look round the shops and of course ended up in Topshop.
Here's what I bought:
  • half leather leggings
  • jumper
  • leopard print leggins
  • pink/red jeans
  • necklace

Also had to put up a picture of my nails at the moment! It's one of the colours I got while in Italy and even though you have to apply quite a few coats because its clear with glitter, I still love the outcome!

A step back in time

Saturday I went back in time with beautiful fashions and amazing cars.  I went to the Goodwood Revival which is an annual event at the Grounds of Goodwood in West Sussex.  My Dad's in the car industry and we're bit of a petrol head family so are frequent attenders of all the car festivals at Goodwood.

Not only were there a range of spectacular cars - old & new.. but also the fashion was exsiquite!  Everyone dresses up in dress from 40's, 50's & 60's and there are also pop-up-shops selling vintage clothing and accessories.

Men wore mechanics overalls or tweed jackets & brogues, while the women wore 50's dresses, 60's flares and 40's skirt suits.  Fur was everywhere which I loved and of course was accompanied with bright, red lipstick.

The range of shops was fascinating and I ended up buying a vintage Aquascutum scarf (I have a thing for vintage scarves).

There was also, to my delight, a pop-up Biba! I really love the vintage style of Biba and how they've kept the same principles of fashion from when they were originally around in the 60's & 70's.

There was a gorgegous fur & leather bag which I drooled over for about 10 minutes and then realised even though there was £30.00 off the price, I still didn't have £265.00 to spare...!

Fur coats & aviator jackets were everywhere.

There was a pup-up salon offering hair & beauty from the 40's & 50's and a barbers for the guys.

All in all it was such a good day out, and even though it rained the atomsphere was great and everyone still looked fabulous!

Topshops gone dotty

So, Topshop has re-discovered their 101 Dalmations DVD...
I haven't been on the site in a long time (compared to my usual twice a week..) and  I'm loving their new pieces... especially this whole dalmation look!  Not sure I can pull it off myself, but I imagine there are plenty of girls who definitely can!

£7.00

I am definitely going to try these though... I'm always changing my nail colour and looking for unusual colours and designs.  I havent tried these 'nail wraps' yet, but now I've found a design I really like I shall try them.

I'm undecided on these Unique for Topshop shorts... I really like the cut and design of the shorts, however I don't like black and white on me.  I'm probably completely wrong but I always think it looks cheap... I do like the dalmation  print though, so I may just have to break free from my dated habit...

£75.00

These boots are something else. I will never wear them but I can't help LOVE them!
They're so Curella DeVille and 70's... its like dalmations meet Abba.
Again, they're by Unique so a little pricey but if you know you'd wear them a lot, surely an investment!
£140.00

These will definitely be going on my shopping list while Topshop has its 20% student discount week... Love the slipper style of shoe, and of course keeping with the theme, I'll be fitting in the Curella yet...
£30.00
There are plenty more dalmation buys just waiting for us all to drool over (excuse the pun), so I won't comment on them all as this post could end up being very long...
I will just say go take a look and like me, who was slightly sceptacle when I first heard about the dalmation print, you may be pleasantly surprised!
REMEMBER if you're tempted buy them while you get 20% off if you're a student!

It's a Fashion Thing

I have been incredibly lazy with my blogging this week... apologies!

I have, however, been checking out the shows from New York Fashion Week... AMAZING!
I've chose the two outfits that really stood out for me on the catwalk, but I also really liked the dress that Victoria Beckham wore, which I think is from her new collection... I'm not usually a pink person, but I can make an exception for the new mum!

Oscar de la Renta R-T-W catwalk was beautiful...
LOVE this dress/top combo.  The lace detail on the top is beautiful and goes so well with the bright colour of the dress.

I also really like Rodarte's prints and dresses...especially the sunflower print.  The blue and Yellows go so well, and instantly give a summer feel to the dress.

I'm so excited for London Fashion Week now, and have signed up at the London Fashion Week website for all the updates and gossip so I can always check out the shows.

Last week I went to Vogue's Fashion Night Out in London.  It was my first time and loved it! Everyone was so well dressed and taking full advantage of all the best shops being open till late with offers and evemts instore.  The atomsphere was electric with the spotting of celebs and fashion vetrans mooching round the shops.  It was one big, well dressed, retail party and I cannot wait till next year!
The afternoon of FNO I still had no clue what to wear (as per usual!). I ended up going for coffee with a few friends and (of course) passing a Topshop... I persuaded the girls to venture in with me (moneys tight at the moment..) and I found a pair of plain leather shorts.  (Like I told the girl who served me when we discussed how nice they were) I had been looking for a plain pair for ages... I often change between gold and silver jewellery and most of the leather shorts I had seen have gold zips etc so I needed a pair I could wear either colour with.

I took a chance and bought them without trying them on... as soon as I put them on at home LOVED them! I got a size bigger so they weren't tight (tight leather when you're not stick thin isn't a great look) and teamed them with black tights, black brogues and a peach, cropped, knitted jumper from Topshop.
I also bought the gold ring for a simple jewellery look - didn't want to over do on the accessories and I have a slight obsession with the knuckle duster rings at the moment! (this one is my fifth!).

I can't wait to wear the shorts with wooly tights, bike boots and aran jumpers over the winter!

ciao bellas!

i had a beautiful holiday but have had serious withdrawal symptoms from the blog world so glad to be back and updating you all with a few photos of my purchases...

before i went away, i had a fish pedicure which i strongly reccommend! my feet were super smooth after and only cost me £10 for 15 minutes.

i was surprisingly very good with my money while away which not only impressed my fam but also myself... i only bought an Italian vogue, perfume, nail varnishes and 2 scarves...

the first scarf (or pashmina) was from a little shop in Siena. the style is quite popular & common at the moment, however i loved the bright, rich colours in this one and reminded me of autumn which is when il probably be wearing it the most!
like most girls i am bit of a nail varnish fan and have more than a few... im always looking out for unusual colours.  i got a range in italy varying from darks to brights to lights to glitters (i do love a bit of glitter..)

the second scarf is actually the offical flag for one of the districts in Siena.  Siena is famous for the horse race that is held there annually and each part of Siena has a horce, a jockey and a flag.  the scarves were beautiful and me and my 2 cousins bought a different one each.  i chose the one i did as i loved the colours and the chanel like style with a gold detailing.
i wanted to get an italian vogue to add to my collection and im so glad i did. its completely different to the british vogue and i got to see so many designers i had never heard of and fashion houses like Missoni who i love but i hadnt seen an advert in british vogue !

the perfume i got was Moschino Couture which i discovered years ago and bought as an everyday perfume which i ended up falling in love with but i havent been able to find it again since...
i went to a small town in north italy where my family live/are from and in the little beauty shop that they have, there it was! (its a good excuse to keep returning to italy!)

I will do another blog shortly with photos of Italy and of some outfits i saw while i was there and wanted to share

its good to be back :)
